Contractor websites

Contractor website design

We build websites for general contractors and trades. The site has a page for every service in every town you cover, a contact form that pings your phone the second someone fills it out, and a price tag that does not need a special meeting with your accountant.

Want a contractor website design website like the ones we build? Two fields, we call you back.

Why contractors hire us

The problems we solve.

Your current site is one page and ranks for nothing.

The lead form sends you an email once a week, maybe.

You serve 8 towns and have one Service Area page that lists them all.

The agency that built it disappeared, and nobody else will touch it.

What you get

Built for the way contractors actually win work.

  1. A real page for every service in every town you serve.
  2. Contact form that hits your inbox the second a homeowner sends it.
  3. Built to load in under a second on a phone in a truck.
  4. Same monthly price no matter how many pages you need.
The deep version

Why this matters for contractors.

Most contractor websites are quiet for a structural reason: they were built as five-page brochures when the actual job of a contractor site is to rank for hundreds of long-tail local searches at once. A homeowner does not Google "contractor." She Googles "deck builder Eagan MN" or "basement finishing contractor near me" at 9 p.m. after the kids are in bed. The site that has a real page for her exact search wins the lead. The site with one Services page and one Service Area page loses, every time.

The matrix is the unlock. Five services across twelve towns is sixty individual ranking pages. Eight services across twenty towns is a hundred and sixty. Each one targets a specific search query, each one has localized content, and each one cross-links to its siblings so Google sees a coherent topical cluster instead of a stack of doorway pages. This is how the contractor sites we have rebuilt are seeing five to ten times the inbound search traffic of their old single-Service-Area-page predecessors.

The buyer is mostly mobile. The average homeowner researches a contractor while standing in the room that needs the work, phone in hand. If the site takes four seconds to load, she is on the next result before your hero image renders. If the phone number is hidden behind a hamburger menu, she calls your competitor. The site has to be fast, the phone number has to be one tap, and the form has to ping you instantly because a contractor who responds in five minutes books the job at four times the rate of one who responds the next day.

Where most agencies fail is the maintenance layer. They charge you eight thousand dollars to build a WordPress site, then either disappear or put you on a fifteen-hundred-dollar monthly retainer for a PDF report nobody reads. We bundle the build, the hosting, the security, the lead form, the Google Business listing, and the monthly content updates into one flat monthly fee with no setup. The first month is not billed until the site is live and you have signed off. Cancel any time, keep your domain.

The trust signals matter as much as the page count. Real license number, real insurance certificate, real photos of you and the crew, real Google reviews surfaced on the site instead of buried on a third-party page. Stock photos and AI-generated team shots are obvious to a buyer who is already nervous about being scammed. The contractor sites that convert have the trust layer wired into every page, not just the About page.

We work with US companies only. One studio, one owner, no overseas subcontracting. The conversation is direct, the decisions are fast, and the work is built for the way contractors actually win jobs in 2026 - not for a template a marketing agency bought in 2019 and has been resurfacing ever since.

Process

What happens after you book the call.

  • Step 1: Discovery call

30 minutes on the phone. You walk us through your services, your service area, what you charge for what, and where leads are coming from today. We tell you straight whether the Bindingstone approach is a fit and where the biggest wins are.

  • Step 2: Service-and-town sitemap

We draft the matrix: every service you sell, every town you serve, and the cross-link map between them. You approve the page list before we touch a design file. Most contractor sites end up with 60-200 pages.

  • Step 3: Design + content

We design the system once and apply it to every page. Hero, service blocks, form, footer. We write the copy for each service hub and each city page based on your business and your market. You see drafts in a shareable preview link, not a hundred PDF mockups.

  • Step 4: Build + launch

We build the production site on a fast modern stack. The last two we launched went live in 10 days and 6 days from kickoff. You point your domain at it, we flip the switch, the site is live and indexable the same day.

  • Step 5: Monthly updates

Every month we add seasonal pages, refresh photos, update copy where local market conditions changed, and keep the Google Business Profile fresh. Same $497, no extra retainer, no surprise invoices.

Questions contractors ask

Answers.

How much does contractor website design cost at Bindingstone?

Flat $497 a month. No setup fee, no contract, cancel any time. That covers the custom site, hosting, lead form, Google Business listing, and monthly copy and search updates. Your first year is $5,964 total.

What is included for contractors?

A custom-designed website built for your trade. A real page for every service in every town you serve. Contact form that hits your inbox the second a homeowner sends it. Your domain set up if you do not own one, Google Business listing kept fresh, and monthly copy updates. No retainer fees on top.

How is this different from what a typical contractor marketing agency builds?

Most agencies build WordPress sites with one Service Area page that lists every town in a paragraph. We build a custom site with a page for each service in each town you serve. That is the architecture that ranks. The math is in the guides at /guides/.

Do you only work with one contractor per market?

We work with US companies only and we do not double-book direct competitors in the same town for the same service. If we have signed your direct competitor in your town, we will tell you on the call.

How fast can my contractor website go live?

Usually one to two weeks from our first call. The last two sites we launched went live in 10 days and 6 days.

Who actually builds the site?

The owner. One studio in Wisconsin. No middlemen, no overseas teams. American built, veteran owned. We work with US companies only.

Vertical-specific questions

More specific answers for contractors.

Will the matrix of service-by-town pages get flagged as doorway content?

No, if it is built right. Google's doorway policy targets templated pages with near-identical content. Each of our city pages carries a hand-written local context paragraph, a different set of nearby-town links, and city-specific FAQ schema. Same service info per service (because the service is the same) but the local layer is genuinely different per page. That is the line Google enforces in 2026.

What if I serve 25 towns? Do I really need 25 pages per service?

Yes if you want to rank in each of those 25 towns. Each search is a separate ranking decision. You can scope it down (cover the 10 towns where you actually want to win) but the matrix architecture stays. A site with one Service Area page that lists 25 towns ranks for none of them.

Do I have to write the copy myself?

No. We write the copy based on a 30-minute discovery call plus what we can already see about your business. You review drafts in a shareable preview. If you want to add personal touches we wire those in too, but the default is we handle the writing.

What about my existing Google reviews and rankings?

Reviews stay on your Google Business Profile, which we keep where it is and optimize. Rankings on your current site: those depend on how long the old site has existed and where it ranks. We map every old URL to its closest new equivalent so existing rankings transfer instead of getting lost in 404s.

I already have a WordPress site. Do I have to start over?

Yes. We do not migrate or polish existing WordPress sites because the plugin-treadmill maintenance overhead is the thing we are trying to remove. Starting fresh on a modern stack is faster than wrestling a WordPress site into rankability.

How is this different from Thrive Themes / Bluehost / GoDaddy / a $20 template?

Those are tools to build a site. We are a service that builds and maintains the site for you. The difference is the matrix at scale, the monthly content updates, the GBP work, and the fact that one person builds it and is reachable for the lifetime of the engagement.
