Bindingstone Engineers, not an agency.
Honest comparison · No marketing spin

Bindingstone vs
WordPress.

If you are running a service business and someone is pitching you a CMS build, this page is the honest math. Where WordPress actually wins. Where the Bindingstone approach fits better. Specifics, not marketing.

Already comparing us to WordPress? Two fields, we call you back with the specifics for your business.

What WordPress is

WordPress in one paragraph.

WordPress runs roughly 40% of all websites. Most service-business sites built by a local agency in the last decade are WordPress sites with a theme and a stack of plugins. It is genuinely powerful when you have the technical staff (or an agency you trust) to keep up with it.

Typical cost shape: $3,000-$12,000 setup + $50-500/mo hosting + plugin/maintenance retainer.

When WordPress is the right call

If any of these is you, WordPress is honestly the better fit.

  1. You want to own the codebase outright. WordPress is open source. You can host it anywhere, change agencies, take the database and run. We are the opposite by design: we build, host and own the site, and you subscribe to it. Your domain and your leads are always yours, but the site itself is not, and it comes down if you leave. That is the trade for no setup fee and no contract. If owning the code matters more to you than that, WordPress is the right answer and we will tell you so on the call.
  2. You have in-house technical staff. A capable developer can do extraordinary things with WordPress. If you have someone on payroll who knows it, the platform's reach across plugins, themes, and integrations is hard to beat.
  3. You need a content-heavy site (blog, knowledge base, course). WordPress was built for long-form publishing. If you are running a blog with hundreds of articles, or a learning portal, the editor + media library + category structure is purpose-built for that.
  4. You want an ecommerce store. WooCommerce (the WordPress ecommerce plugin) runs roughly a quarter of all online stores. If your site needs to sell products, WooCommerce + WordPress is a stronger fit than what we build.
When Bindingstone is the right call

If any of these is you, talk to us instead.

  1. You want a service-business site that actually brings leads. Our default architecture is a page-per-service-per-town matrix (20-200 pages depending on coverage), all hand-coded for sub-second loads, all in the sitemap, all with structured data. A WordPress site with a theme and a contact form is competing for the same searches against this.
  2. You do not want to think about hosting, plugins, or security. The $497 covers the hosting, the SSL, the daily backups, the updates, the monthly content refresh, and the Google Business Profile. If something breaks, you call the owner who built it. No 'whose responsibility is the plugin' conversations.
  3. You want flat-monthly pricing instead of $5k-$10k up front. Most contractors we talk to financed an $8,000 WordPress build, are still on the hook for a $1,500/mo agency retainer, and have no idea what they are paying for. The Bindingstone math is one number, every month, cancel anytime, no exit fee.
  4. You want a real person to call, not an account manager. WordPress sites usually come through an agency. That means an account manager between you and the developer. When something needs to change, you call the account manager, who emails the developer queue, who replies in a week. Bindingstone is the engineer. Call goes straight to him.
A client we migrated off WordPress

Concrete, not a testimonial.

All American Concrete Coatings was on a WordPress site when they came to us. We migrated to the Bindingstone stack in 10 days with every old URL 301'd to the new equivalent, preserved the search rankings, and shipped a 235-page service-by-town matrix in place of the old 6-page brochure. Page-one Google for every concrete-coatings search across their territory inside 60 days.
