Why the site comes down
Bindingstone owns the website: the design, the code, the words we wrote and the servers it runs on. That's what lets us fix it, add towns to it and update it without asking you first, and it's the reason the monthly price covers everything instead of being a build fee plus a bill for changes.
The other side of that is plain and you should hear it before you sign up rather than after. Stop paying and the site stops being served. It isn't handed over, and there's no version where you keep the pages and drop the payment.
What stays yours
Your web address, in your name at your registrar the whole time. Where it points after your last day is yours to decide and yours to change, at the registrar, and we don't touch it. Your logo, your photos and anything else you sent us. Your Google Business Profile, which was always yours and which we only lined up with the site.
Your leads too. Ask before your last day and we send you a copy. The reviews you collected stay on your listing, because they live there rather than on the website.
How canceling works
Do it from your account, or send an email saying so. There's no fee for leaving, no notice period, and nothing to argue about, because there was no contract to start with.
Nothing has to be justified either. You don't owe a reason, there's no call to sit through, and nobody is going to spend a week trying to talk you out of it. Say so and it's done.
The month you're in is the month you've paid for and it isn't pro-rated or refunded. So cancel when you mean to and use the rest of the month, which is usually enough time to get your address pointed somewhere new.
What to do before your last day
Ask for your leads. Download your photos if you don't have originals. Decide where the web address should point, whether that's a new site, a holding page or your Google listing, and make that change at your registrar so nobody typing your address lands on nothing.
Then update the website link on your Business Profile, so the listing that keeps working points somewhere that keeps working.
