Contractor Website Design in Lakeville, MN
Lakeville is the biggest city in Dakota County, 69,490 people at the 2020 census, on I-35 about 20 miles south of both downtowns. It grew from 24,854 people in 1990 to 69,490 in 2020, and a contractor here works the new subdivisions in town and the ones in Farmington, Apple Valley and Burnsville next door, out to Elko New Market and Prior Lake. We've built sites for concrete coating and sealcoating companies that show up on Google a long way from their shop, and one of them already shows up in Lakeville.

The problem
Showing up in the towns around Lakeville
Say you build decks and fences out of Lakeville. Someone in Farmington, 5 miles east, searches for a fence company and gets a list of names. If your site only talks about Lakeville, you're not on it. Google gives Farmington its own list, and it fills that list with businesses that say they work in Farmington.
Google gives every town its own list. Someone in Farmington is looking at that list right now, and if you're not on it they're calling somebody else. Same in every other town you drive to.

The town
Local SEO in Lakeville, MN
Local SEO means showing up when someone in one particular town searches for your work. It starts with a page that's about the town.
Lakeville started in 1855, when J.J. Brackett platted a stop halfway between St. Paul and St. Peter on a lake he called Prairie Lake. The lake got its current name from Marion Savage, who built Antlers Amusement Park on it in 1910 and ran the Dan Patch rail line out to it, and the Milwaukee Road ran through the middle of town until 1970. The city incorporated in 1967. Airlake Industrial Park, 1,500 acres with as many as 200 companies and about 4,500 jobs, is one of the largest industrial parks in the state, with the Metropolitan Airports Commission's Airlake Airport beside it, and Post Consumer Brands has been headquartered in Lakeville since 2015.
Lakeville is one of the fastest-growing cities in the Twin Cities: 24,854 people in 1990, 43,128 in 2000, 55,954 in 2010, 69,490 in 2020, and a Census Bureau estimate of 79,270 for 2025. Nearly three quarters of the housing has gone up since 1990, about 12,700 units since 2000 and 6,500 since 2010. The median home was built in 1999, only about 350 predate 1940, and 12 percent of the homes are rentals. In 2025 the city permitted 229 single-family homes and 319 townhomes, $381 million of construction in all, the most residential permits of any city in the metro by Housing First Minnesota's count. In April 2026 it paused new residential plat applications for up to a year to let schools and services catch up, with 675 single-family lots and 644 townhome units already approved and unaffected. Footings go at least 42 inches down under Minnesota code.

Every tradeQuestions
Questions people in Lakeville ask
- Do I need an office in Lakeville to show up in Lakeville?
- No. Google's business profile lets you list up to 20 service areas, and a page on your site for each town covers the rest. A crew based in Farmington, Apple Valley or Elko New Market shows up in Lakeville the same way, with a page about Lakeville.
- Can the site keep up as I add towns south of Lakeville?
- Yes. Towns you add later go in for the same $497 a month, each with its own page: Elko New Market, Northfield, Prior Lake and wherever the next subdivision goes. Lakeville keeps its own page, and every new town page is written for that town, the same way.
- I already have a website. Can you make it show up in Lakeville?
- We replace it. Your web address stays the same, and the new site goes up in its place with a page for Lakeville and one for every other town you work in, Farmington, Apple Valley, Burnsville and the rest of the south metro included.
- Do you handle my Google Business Profile?
- It stays yours. We match it to the site, so someone in Lakeville who finds you on the map sees the same name, number and towns on your website, and the service areas on the profile line up with the town pages. When something on it needs changing, we help.
- How long until I show up in Farmington?
- A new page starts from zero, and it usually takes a few months to build up. Farmington is smaller than Lakeville, so there's less on its list and it can be quicker there. We don't promise a spot on Google. We build the page, tell Google about it, and keep it listed.
