St. Croix Falls sits at the Dalles of the St. Croix, a basalt gorge with glacial potholes in its walls, across the river from Taylors Falls, Minnesota. The Auditorium downtown opened in January 1917 for vaudeville and has been Festival Theatre's home since 1990. St. Croix Health goes back to the first hospital here in 1919 and runs the critical access hospital in town.
